About The Role

We are seeking a driven and analytical Financial Accountant with a curious mindset, capable of achieving commercial outcomes efficiently. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial results for over 500 Australian stores, including period-end accounting, data analysis, and business support, while driving process improvements.

This position is based at our Head Office in Preston, with a 4-day in-office and 1-day remote work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Period end accounting
   • Manage period-end accounting and reporting for retail stores, including General Ledger maintenance, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
   • Conduct analytical reviews of store performance.
   • Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and internal reports.
   • Maintain the Chart of Accounts and general ledger accuracy.
   • Support statutory financial reporting and audit processes.
2. Gathering and interpreting data
   • Develop analytical skills related to business KPIs with team support.
   • Respond to internal and external stakeholder queries.
   • Collaborate with the team to identify and present solutions to issues.
3. Business support and continuous improvements
   • Support development of processes for retail financial reporting.
   • Identify opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements, engaging key stakeholders.

About You

• Experience suitable for a first-time mover from a professional services firm, preferably with an audit background, with 3-4 years of experience.
• Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
• CAANZ or CPA Australia qualification.
• Knowledge of current accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt in an agile environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and analytical mindset.
• Problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Self-motivated with good time management.
• Strong accountability and teamwork skills.
