Role overview:

Financial Accountant

Location: London, Currys London Campus at Waterloo

Type: Permanent, Full Time, Grade 4

The Financial Accountant will play a vital role in managing financial control and accounting for the ROI and B2B operations, ensuring high-quality and consistent processes. Responsibilities include overseeing the monthly close processes for Group and Statutory reporting, preparing and reviewing journals, conducting analytical reviews, account reconciliations, and implementing process improvements and automation to minimize manual efforts. The role involves significant collaboration with the Group, Brno, and Pune finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the monthly accounting close processes and control environment for Irish entities and UK&I B2B operations, including journal preparation, review, and balance sheet management.
  2. Oversee the year-end audit process for Irish operations and act as the main contact for external auditors.
  3. Prepare statutory financial statements for Irish entities and liaise with auditors on queries.
  4. Promote a culture of financial control and continuous improvement through process automation and robust accounting practices.
  5. Lead periodic balance sheet reviews, challenge business partners, and identify issues and solutions.
  6. Coordinate with finance teams in the Shared Service Centre to ensure operational efficiency and financial control.
  7. Develop detailed business knowledge to support analytical reviews and risk mitigation.
  8. Collaborate with Group accounting to ensure standard-compliant treatments across Irish and B2B units.
  9. Address and resolve financial issues promptly.
  10. Participate in the Group’s Annual and Interim Reports.
  11. Recommend and support the implementation of new accounting standards and disclosures.
