Job summary

Castle Employment Group is recruiting a Financial Accountant to join a well-established business based near Howden, East Yorkshire. You will support accurate financial reporting and day-to-day finance operations within a busy team.

The role suits someone with AAT Level 4 and solid accounting knowledge, capable of month-end tasks, reconciliations and providing reliable financial information across the organisation.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification, or equivalent accounting experience.
• Previous experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Experience supporting month-end processes, journals and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel and IT skills, with experience using finance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other month-end adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are achieved.
• Prepare and review financial reports to support accurate and timely reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensuring transactions are coded correctly.
• Reconcile key control accounts and reviewing unusual movements.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit schedules.
• Ensure financial processes comply with internal controls, accounting policies and relevant regulations.
• Monitoring fixed assets, maintaining the fixed asset register and calculating depreciation where required.
• Assisting with VAT returns and other financial compliance requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting accuracy.
• Working closely with colleagues across the finance team to resolve queries and provide reliable financial information.
