The Finance team will support your development and training, and there is the potential for funded study support, including study leave. We also offer apprenticeships. This role is a great opportunity for someone seeking career growth in finance.

Working at Play Sports as a Financial Accountant will give you experience and exposure to the wider business. You will develop skills across a broad range of finance activities and have the opportunity to support process improvements as the business grows and becomes more complex.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Supporting finance management with the month-end process, including revenue recognition, accruals, and prepayments.
• Ownership of revenue streams, identifying trends and investigating anomalies.
• Collaborating with department managers to meet financial requirements and data requests promptly.
• Review and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting FP&A Manager with commentary and variance analysis.
• Supporting Finance Manager to maintain a consistent control environment.
• Ownership of E-Commerce processing, including sales reconciliation and cost allocations.
• Managing purchase ledger, ensuring invoices match purchase orders, are paid, and queries are resolved.
• Raising sales ledger invoices, supporting credit control, and maintaining customer relationships.
• Supporting VAT compliance and returns.
• Reconciling bank accounts.
• Responding effectively to queries sent to the finance email address.
• Assisting with year-end close and audit processes.
• Performing other ad hoc tasks as required.

Skills and Experience for Success

• Qualified or working towards a finance qualification (e.g., AAT).
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the finance team and across the wider business.

• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Experience using accounting systems.
• Broad experience in finance activities.
