Job summary

Greater London Authority is seeking a Finance Transformation Business Analyst to drive a SAP S/4HANA finance ERP transformation. You will document, map, and streamline end-to-end finance processes, working with stakeholders across Finance, operations and service teams.

You should bring a strong finance background with Business Analysis and transformation experience, and be adept at producing clear process maps, SOPs and UAT scripts to support the future-state finance platform.

Qualifications

• Finance background with experience in finance transformation.

• Experience with ERP finance projects and SAP ecosystems.
• Ability to map interfaces between finance systems and SAP ECC.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Transformation Business Analyst to join the Greater London Authority and play a key role in a significant Finance ERP transformation programme.

We are looking for someone who brings a strong finance background alongside Business Analysis experience, with a thorough understanding of finance processes and how these translate into ERP systems.

Working closely with the Finance ERP Lead and stakeholders from across Finance, operational teams and business services, you will help document, analyse and improve end-to-end finance processes as the organisation prepares for its SAP S/4HANA implementation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Business Analyst who enjoys getting into the detail of finance processes, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and turning complex requirements into clear, practical process maps and documentation.

What you'll be doing

As a Finance Transformation Business Analyst, you will:

• Attend and contribute to workshops covering approximately 400 identified finance business process maps.
• Work closely with the Finance ERP Lead to understand, document and challenge existing finance processes.
• Facilitate engagement with stakeholders across Finance, GLA operational teams and business services to capture end-to-end requirements.
• Produce detailed 'As Is' and 'To Be' process maps using Microsoft Visio.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve finance processes in preparation for SAP S/4HANA.
• Document manual finance processes that currently sit outside SAP ECC, including processes managed through Excel spreadsheets.
• Develop clear and user-friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that reflect agreed processes and compliance requirements.
• Map system integrations between GLA operational systems and SAP ECC, identifying requirements and opportunities to improve interfaces.
• Work alongside FICO consultants to support the design and implementation of future-state finance processes within SAP.
• Compile supporting documentation for change requests.
• Support the implementation of Loans Investment and Grants/Funds Management solutions.
• Create UAT test scripts and support subject matter experts through testing of the Loans Investment, Funds Management and S/4HANA solutions.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure process documentation is accurate, practical and ready to support future transformation.

What we're looking for

We’re particularly interested in candidates who have a finance background combined with Business Analysis and transformation experience.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• A strong understanding of finance processes, ideally gained through hands‑on experience working within a finance function or finance transformation environment.
• Business Analysis experience, ideally supported by a relevant Business Analyst qualification.
• Experience working on ERP Finance Transformation programmes or projects.
• Strong experience of Record-to-Report (R2R) processes.
• Experience documenting complex end‑to‑end processes and producing detailed 'As Is' and 'To Be' process maps.
• Experience using Microsoft Visio for process mapping.Experience working with SAP ECC (R/3) and/or SAP S/4HANA.
• The ability to engage effectively with finance professionals, operational teams, technical specialists and senior stakeholders.
• Experience translating business and finance requirements into clear process documentation, SOPs and functional requirements.
• Experience creating UAT test scripts and supporting users through testing.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify process improvements and challenge existing ways of working constructively.
