Job summary

SSE plc is seeking an experienced Finance Technology Lead to shape the finance function's AI and digital innovation. Based in Scotland, you will spend time in Glasgow or Perth and lead high-impact transformation programs, delivering a technology roadmap that strengthens controls and drives business value.

You will partner across Finance, Technology and the wider business to enable responsible AI, automation and advanced analytics, while building a culture of curiosity and learning.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering Finance technology transformations including AI and automation.
• Experience at the intersection of Finance, Technology and business change.
• Influence senior stakeholders and drive adoption of new technologies across the organisation.
• Deep understanding of Finance controls, governance, data management and risk.
• Qualified accountant with senior Finance leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the Finance AI and technology strategy with a clear roadmap.
• Champion AI and intelligent automation to improve insight and decision-making across Finance.
• Partner with Finance, Technology and business teams to align solutions and deliver change.
• Lead a portfolio of digital transformation initiatives with governance and value realisation.
• Foster curiosity, coaching teams to adopt new tech safely and compliantly.

Salary

The role

We're looking for an experienced and strategic Finance Technology Lead to shape the future of Finance through AI & digital innovation.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who has successfully led and delivered complex Finance technology transformation programmes and can bring both strategic vision and hands-on delivery expertise. You'll work in close partnership across Finance, Technology and the wider business to create and deliver a technology roadmap that enhances decision-making, strengthens controls, improves efficiency and unlocks new opportunities through responsible AI and automation.

You will

• Shape and lead the development and delivery of Finance's AI & technology strategy, creating a clear roadmap that supports business objectives and delivers meaningful and measurable value.
• Champion and enable the adoption of AI and intelligent automation, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve insight and enhance decision-making across Finance.
• Build trusted, inclusive and collaborative partnerships across Finance, Technology and business teams, creating alignment, fostering connection and bringing people together to shape solutions and deliver meaningful change.
• Partnering with internal delivery capability, lead a portfolio of digital transformation initiatives from concept to implementation, ensuring strong governance, responsible innovation, risk management and benefits realisation.
• Foster a culture of curiosity, learning and continuous improvement, coaching, supporting and empowering teams to embrace new technologies whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, control and compliance.

You have

• A proven track record of leading and delivering Finance technology transformation programmes, including the successful implementation of AI, automation, advanced analytics or digital finance solutions.
• Strong and practical experience operating at the intersection of Finance, Technology and business change, with the ability to translate strategic ambitions into practical, scalable outcomes.
• Demonstrable success influencing senior stakeholders, building trusted relationships, creating shared understanding and leading organisational adoption of new technologies and ways of working.
• A deep understanding of Finance controls, governance, data management and risk, ensuring technology-enabled change is delivered responsibly, safely and with lasting business impact.
• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) together with significant senior Finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation.
