Job summary

Stockport Council is seeking an Interim Finance Systems Accountant to lead the configuration, maintenance and development of the Council's core financial management systems. You will translate accounting requirements into practical system solutions and act as a key link between Finance, ICT, suppliers, auditors and users.

The role will support system upgrades, testing, automation and process redesign to deliver accurate financial management, statutory reporting and audit assurance.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified AAT or part qualified CCAB/CIMA, or a relevant degree with significant finance systems experience.
• Experience administering, configuring and developing enterprise financial systems in a large organisation.
• Experience of finance system upgrades, projects, reporting developments and testing cycles.
• Advanced knowledge of local government finance, accounting standards and audit requirements.
• Strong understanding of data structures, COA, workflows, interfaces and data quality controls.
• Experience creating reports, dashboards and reconciliations using finance systems or SQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead configuration, maintenance and development of finance system structures, controls and hierarchies.
• Support system upgrades, implementation projects, testing, change control and post-implementation support.
• Translate accounting and governance requirements into practical system solutions.
