Job description

A specialty insurance business is hiring a Finance Systems Accountant to join their fast-growing team in London.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of finance and systems, ideal for someone who enjoys owning a finance platform while staying close to core accounting. You’ll act as the internal expert for the enterprise finance system, supporting its ongoing development while contributing to day-to-day finance operations and reporting.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how finance operates as the business scales - from system configuration and data structures through to process design and automation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning and developing the finance system, including configuration, upgrades, and enhancements
• Acting as the internal SME and system administrator (chart of accounts, dimensions, workflows, controls)
• Supporting the design of financial data structures to enable accurate reporting across multiple frameworks (including IFRS and UK GAAP)
• Working closely with technology and data teams on integrations and data governance
• Supporting core finance processes such as month-end, reconciliations, and reporting
• Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate finance processes

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with experience in financial reporting and operational finance
• Has worked as a finance systems super-user, administrator, or implementation SME
• Has been involved in finance system implementation or configuration
• Is confident working with data (advanced Excel essential; SQL/Python beneficial)
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Insurance experience is helpful but not essential. Experience in a high-growth or start-up environment would be a strong advantage.
