Job summary

Aviva plc is seeking a Finance Risk and Controls Manager on a 6 month fixed-term contract. The role is hybrid with locations including York and multiple UK cities.

You will help strengthen financial reporting controls and deliver assurance across UK General Insurance and Direct Line. The ideal candidate will have experience in finance, audit, risk or controls assurance, and a proven ability to review processes, challenge constructively, and build strong cross-team relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience with financial reporting controls within finance, audit, risk or controls assurance.
• Experience planning and delivering controls testing (walkthroughs, design assessments, operating effectiveness).
• Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and improvements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with ability to challenge.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assurance reviews of key financial reporting controls across UK General Insurance and Direct Line Finance.
• Complete walkthroughs, design assessments and operating effectiveness testing.
• Produce clear, well-evidenced documentation to support assurance conclusions.
• Share findings with stakeholders and agree actions to address control weaknesses.
• Monitor remediation plans and support ongoing improvements to the control environment.
