Overview
Drawing upon your knowledge and experience, you will support the Finance Product Lead to deliver Finance process convergence and the design, testing and deployment of the new Synergy ERP and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) systems and associated BPS services. As a Finance Product Manager, you will lead the programme from inception to live deployment and throughout post go-live support. You will be the custodian for the end‑to‑end design on Chart of Accounts (CoA) and Enterprise Structure (ES), ensuring it is future‑focused and transformational for Synergy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Finance aspects of designing, building, testing, implementing and live‑running CoA & ES services for the Synergy Programme.
- Lead a cross‑departmental Design Squad dedicated to the CoA & ES requirements.
- Act as the CoA & ES lead across all Finance, HR and Procurement Design Squads, handling dependencies and raising risks or issues.
- Communicate CoA & ES business, functional and technical information across multiple stakeholders and represent Synergy in key forums.
- Advocate the “Adopt not Adapt” principle, challenging established ways of working to realise transformation aspirations and move to SaaS for Finance processes.
- Own the end‑to‑end Finance Business Process Service and its associated products within the CoA & ES areas.
- Work across a product‑centric, multidisciplinary team to design and deliver programme deliverables alongside multiple Synergy technical, delivery, user, business change teams and strategic partners.
Qualifications & Experience
- Up to 40 hours of CPD each year in line with your institute’s requirements.
- Understanding of IFRS applicable to this area, including recent adaptations or interpretation papers.
- Professional advice, best practice and latest knowledge through membership of your institute’s technical advisory services and specialist networks.
- Awareness of the Government Finance Function Career Framework – systems and data.
- Meeting the DWP annual key work objective for qualified accountants set at the beginning of each performance year.
- Strong grounding across the Record to Report process, with specific expertise in CoA & ES.

Technical Skills
- Significant experience in Record‑to‑Report (R2R) processes, deep CoA and ES design in large, complex organisations.
- Understanding of ERP and Enterprise Structure concepts (ledgers, legal entities, business units).
- Experience in designing and maintaining CoA processes and controls.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, data governance and enterprise data management (preferably Oracle Fusion).
- Proven ability to lead finance transformation projects at scale and manage complex ERP implementations.
- Experience driving behavioural and process change to achieve transformation objectives.
- Skill in prioritising competing demands and delivering outcomes under challenging deadlines.
