Job summary

Action for Carers Surrey is hiring a Finance & Payroll Officer to keep our day-to-day financial operations running smoothly. You will handle ledgers, payroll administration and reconciliations, supporting a local charity that delivers life-changing care to unpaid carers across Surrey.

Working with the Head of Finance, you’ll ensure robust financial controls, assist audit preparation, and use Xero and Excel skills to produce accurate information with discretion and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance, bookkeeping or accounts support role.
• Understanding of purchase ledger processes and basic accounting principles.
• Experience using financial systems, ideally Xero or similar, with strong Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and strong communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day financial operations, including ledgers, reconciliations and payroll administration.
• Process purchase and sales ledgers and assist with audit preparation.
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to maintain robust financial controls.
