Finance & Payroll Accounts Assistant - TEMP TO PERM
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Bourton-on-the-Water
Salary: Up to £35,000
Working pattern: Office-based, with some flexibility around start and finish times
The Role
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Finance & Payroll Accounts Assistant. The role combines responsibility for accurate weekly payroll preparation with finance, accounts and general administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and validate weekly employee hours, including variable hours, pay rates, sickness, holidays and other payroll adjustments.
- Review time-recording information and compare reports across multiple systems.
- Investigate discrepancies, missing or incorrect information and liaise with managers to resolve issues.
- Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete and correctly allocated ahead of the weekly payroll deadline.
- Support Finance with payroll reporting, reconciliations, financial records and general accounts administration.
- Handle relevant cash, petty cash and payment administration.
- Maintain accurate payroll, financial and employee records, spreadsheets and internal systems.
- Respond to payroll, finance and employee queries professionally, working collaboratively with Finance, HR and management.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider business as required.
What We're Looking For
- Previous payroll experience, with a proven understanding of payroll processes and experience collating and/or checking payroll data.
- Strong Excel skills, including confidence working with formulas, checking formula accuracy and analysing spreadsheets.
- Experience analysing data from multiple systems or reports and confidently interrogating information to identify discrepancies or errors.
- Understanding of hours worked, pay rates, gross pay, deductions, net pay, holiday, sickness and different working arrangements.
- Experience in basic finance and accounts administration, including maintaining financial records, reconciliations and cash-related queries.
- Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy and a methodical approach.
- Comfortable working to a weekly payroll cycle and fixed deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a busy environment.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deadlines.
- Good communication skills and confidence liaising with employees and managers.
Working Arrangements
The position is predominantly office-based, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around start and finish times, provided business requirements and weekly payroll deadlines are met.
The role works across Finance, HR and management, requiring effective communication and collaboration.
