Job description

Role: Finance Officer

Contract Details
  • Length: 3 months
  • Location: Hybrid/Rochford - full-time during training, then 2-3 days on-site per week
  • IR35: Inside
  • Pay Rate: Dependant on experience
About the Role

Spinwell is recruiting for a Finance Officer within the public sector.

Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, process invoices, reconcile financial data, and handle VAT returns.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with Council policies and government regulations, including transparency and anti-money laundering procedures.
  • Generate financial reports, investigate discrepancies, support system upgrades, and assist with year-end closing.
  • Address queries from internal and external stakeholders, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to procedural improvements.
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Experience with sales and/or purchase ledgers, ensuring transaction accuracy and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other applications for managing financial data.
  • Experience in local government or public sector finance, with knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies, resolve queries, and maintain accurate records.
