Job summary

Worksop College and Ranby House is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the purchase ledger, reconcile supplier statements, and process invoices and payments at two busy sites in Worksop. The role supports school finances, with a front desk function for the finance team and daily cash handling.

It benefits from a supportive environment in a two-site community. Experience with Excel and petty cash is essential, along with strong numeracy, confidentiality and the ability to prioritise high volumes

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the purchase ledger daily and input invoices into the accounting software accurately.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure purchase orders are authorised by the correct budget holder and matched to invoices.
  • Review the purchase ledger regularly and resolve supplier queries.
  • Handle pupil pocket money requests and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile cash accounts and floats.
  • Bank cash and cheques promptly.
  • Act as front desk for the finance department, helping pupils and staff.
  • Collect and distribute the department's post daily.
  • Keep records in line with school policies and audit requirements.
  • Follow financial regulations, policies and procedures.

Finance Officer

Location: Worksop, Nottinghamshire

Working pattern: Full-time, permanent

About the role

What you'll be doing
  • Maintaining the purchase ledger daily and inputting invoices accurately into the accounting software
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies
  • Making sure purchase orders are authorised by the right budget holder and matched to invoices
  • Reviewing the purchase ledger regularly and resolving supplier queries
  • Handling pupil pocket money requests and reconciliations
  • Maintaining and reconciling cash accounts and floats
  • Banking cash and cheques promptly
  • Acting as the front desk for the finance department, helping pupils and staff
  • Collecting and distributing the department's post each day

What you'll bring
