Job summary

AWE plc is seeking an experienced Finance Manager (Statutory & Technical Accounting) to lead the Financial Accounting team and drive planning and delivery across the CFO Finance function in the United Kingdom. You will oversee multiple finance domains and provide clear leadership and governance, while working with key internal and external stakeholders.

You will deliver advanced systems expertise, maintain IFRS compliance, support external audits, and contribute to ESG/TCFD reporting.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACCA/CIMA qualification is required or equivalent.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong numerical/financial analysis capabilities.
• Experience with IFRS and technical accounting developments.
• Audit experience and ability to communicate complex financial information to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a Finance team delivering technical and financial activities.
• Oversee Financial Accounting, FP&A, Financial Compliance and Finance Systems, with effective reporting.
• Manage external audit processes and statutory reporting (AR&A).
• Identify leases under IFRS and monitor technical accounting developments.

Job description

The Financial Accounting team are seeking an experienced Finance Manager (Statutory & Technical Accounting) to provide advanced systems expertise and lead the effective planning and delivery of financial activities across the CFO Finance function. You will oversee Financial Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Compliance and Finance Systems, while providing clear leadership and line management to your assigned team.,

• Tasking and developing a team, to provide planning and delivery of first class technical and financial activities within a Finance functional team.
• Using Fusion and other associated finance systems, you will provide financial information through effective communication of data and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• We need you to be adept at building rapport with key stakeholders, both internal and external, and to utilise your communication skills to relay complex financial information to both financial and non-financial people., Preparation and analysis of Annual Report & Accounts (AR&A).
• Researching significant transactions to ensure business drivers are understood and correct local accounting treatment has been applied.
• Owning and developing the process to identify leases under International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Monitoring, assessing and interpreting technical accounting developments and addressing potential impacts to financial reporting.
• Ensuring timely and successful completion of the external audit process.
• Preparing and submitting MOD reporting returns.
• Developing financial reporting for 'Environmental, Social & Governance' (ESG) and 'Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures' (TCFD).
• Professional accounting qualification (i.e., ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Proficient in Excel to advanced level.
• Audit experience.
• Knowledge of IFRS.
• 2+ years post qualification experience of financial and technical accounting work.

Package: £46,220 - £70,000 p.a (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Working pattern: Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. This role is eligible for hybrid working, meaning employees typically spend three days on site in a long week and two days on site in a short week. We support flexible working where possible, including part-time and varied working hours, so please let us know if you would like us to consider an alternative working arrangement when you apply.
