Job summary

McAllister is seeking a Finance Manager to own the day-to-day finance function for the Southeast division, based at Ruskin House, Battle, and for the new Wessex division. Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with 2+ years post-qualification experience.
• Experience owning month-end close, WIP and management accounts.
• Experience supporting operational and commercial teams as a finance business partner.
• Experience in contracting, construction, utilities or high-volume job costing.
• Experience leading year-end audits.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely divisional month-end close with central/offshore teams.
• Oversee purchase invoice coding and authorisation, supplier reconciliations and payment runs.
• Lead preparation for the annual year-end audit and act as main contact for external auditors.
• Own weekly and monthly assessment of work in progress (WIP) and accruals.
• Oversee month-end stock assessment and reporting across depots.
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts with variance analysis and KPIs.
• Analyze cost against value at job/contract level and advise on budgeting.
• Lead the budget for Southeast and Wessex divisions and support group reporting.
• Support monthly application cycle with commercial team and subcontractor payments.
• Oversee VAT returns and CIS submissions to HMRC.
• Drive data capture, reporting improvements and automation.
