Job summary

McAllister Group is seeking a Finance Manager for the Southeast division, based at Ruskin House, Battle, with responsibility for day-to-day finance, statutory compliance and commercial insight. The role also supports the stand‑alone Wessex division planned for 2027.

The successful candidate will own month-end close, WIP, accruals, stock valuations and management reporting, while partnering with operational teams on budgeting and forecasting. Strong Excel, ERP and Power BI skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with 2+ years’ post-qualification experience.
• Experience owning month-end close, WIP and management accounts for a business or division.
• Experience supporting operational and commercial teams as a finance business partner.
• Contracting, construction, utilities or another high-volume job-costing business.
• Year-end audit lead.
• Private equity-backed or group reporting environment.
• Knowledge of UK tax including VAT and CIS; Advanced Excel, macros and data analysis; use of mid-tier ERP accounting software; familiarity with Power BI for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver timely month-end close for the Southeast and assist with group close.
• Oversee purchase invoice coding, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, sales invoicing, bank and control account reconciliations, journals, prepayments and fixed asset registers.
• Maintain internal controls and act as final authoriser for Accounts Payable and supplier payments.
• Lead preparation for year-end audit and act as main contact for external auditors for both divisions.
• Own weekly and monthly assessment of WIP and value of work done.
• Ensure accruals reflect committed costs and work delivered, including materials and plant costs.
• Oversee monthly stock assessment across depots with timely stock review.
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts with variance analysis and KPIs for local reviews and Group reporting.
• Analyse cost against value at job, contract and divisional level to spot margin erosion and partner with operational teams on budgeting and forecasting.
• Lead annual budget for the Southeast and Wessex divisions and support broader budget process.
• Support the monthly application cycle with the commercial team and reconcile to work orders.
• Oversee VAT and CIS submissions to HMRC for both divisions.
• Drive data automation and streamline reporting processes.
