OneClickComply is hiring its first dedicated finance professional in Sunderland to own day-to-day financial operations. This part-time role (0.5 FTE) reports to the CFO, ensures clean ledgers, timely invoicing, and cash flow accuracy, and supports governance with proper records.

You will work directly with the CFO, bring control to VAT, reconciliations and month-end tasks, and help scale finance as the startup grows. Flexible hours and real ownership on a compact, fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on finance experience with ledgers, reconciliations, VAT, credit control, month-end.
• Genuinely meticulous attention to detail and strong numeracy.
• Good working knowledge of Excel—formulas, lookups, and clean spreadsheets.
• Able to work independently in an ownership role and hit deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own ledgers end to end: purchases, sales, and accurate coding.
• Reconcile bank, company card, and petty cash; resolve discrepancies.
• Own VAT returns and HMRC interactions; maintain audit readiness.
• Month-end close with CFO review; support statutory reporting.
• Credit control from chase to escalation; manage debtor risk.

About Us

OneClickComply is changing how businesses think about cybersecurity compliance. We've built a platform that automates the hard parts — technical control implementation, policy generation, continuous monitoring, and real-time audit evidence — so that achieving ISO 27001, SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, and CIS v8 takes weeks instead of months.

We're a multimillion-pound startup, backed and growing fast, based in Sunderland. Small team, no hierarchy, no red tape. We've reached the point where the numbers matter too much to be handled around the edges of everyone else's day job — which is exactly why this role exists.

The Opportunity

This is our first dedicated finance hire, reporting directly to the CFO.

Until now our financial operations have been split between external accountants and people doing it on top of their real jobs. That works until it doesn't — and we've outgrown it. We're looking for someone to take full ownership of the day-to-day finance function and run it properly: clean ledgers, accurate records, invoices out on time, cash in on time, and a CFO who can spend his time on strategy rather than reconciliations.

This is a part-time role and we mean it. 0.5 FTE at a full-time-equivalent salary of £44,000, so £22,000 actual. We're flexible on how those hours are structured — school hours, compressed days, or spread across the week. What matters is that the work is done accurately and on schedule, not when you're sat at a desk.

You'll get real autonomy from day one, direct access to the CFO, and visibility into how a venture-backed company actually runs its finances — from grant claims and investor reporting through to board packs. As the company scales, this role scales with it.

What You'll Be Doing

Owning the ledgers

• Run the purchase and sales ledgers end to end
• Maintain complete, accurate financial records in Xero
• Keep supplier accounts and subscription spend controlled and correctly coded

Reconciliation and controls

• Own bank, company card, and petty cash reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies rather than carrying them forward
• Build and improve the finance processes and controls we don't yet have

VAT and compliance

• Own preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Act as our point of contact with HMRC
• Keep us audit-ready and on top of our filing obligations

Month-end and year-end

• Run month-end close with CFO review
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules
• Work alongside our external accountants to make statutory reporting painless

Credit control

• Own credit control end to end — chasing, escalation, and correspondence
• Keep aged debtors tight and flag risk early
• Build professional, constructive relationships with client finance contacts

Reporting and insight

• Produce management reporting and financial analysis for the CFO and leadership team
• Support board reporting, investor updates, and Innovate UK grant claims
• Help us understand not just what the numbers are, but what they're telling us

Working across the business

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and external advisors

• Support the leadership team with ad hoc finance projects
• Be the person the rest of the business comes to with a finance question

What We're Looking For

Above all else: accuracy, reliability, and discretion. You'll own the company's financial records and handle information almost nobody else in the business sees. We need someone who gets it right first time and hits deadlines without being chased.

• Solid hands-on finance experience — ledgers, reconciliations, VAT, credit control, month-end
• Genuinely meticulous attention to detail and strong numeracy
• Good working knowledge of Excel — formulas, lookups, and building a clean, reliable spreadsheet
• Confidence working independently — this is an ownership role, not a task-completion one
• Strong written and verbal communication — you'll deal with clients, suppliers, and HMRC
• Complete discretion with confidential financial information
• Local to our Sunderland office, or within comfortable commutable distance
• AAT qualified, part-qualified, or actively studying — equally happy with qualified by experience
• Experience with Xero
• Previous experience in an SME, startup, or standalone finance role
• Any exposure to grant claims, investor reporting, or board packs
