Bath and North East Somerset Council is seeking a Finance Manager (Town Council) to lead budgeting and financial forecasting, management accounts, banking and investments, VAT, payroll, procurement, controls, year-end accounts and audit for the Town Council. Hybrid working is supported.

The role requires an accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent, strong numerical and analytical skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

22.5 hours per week (including occasional evening meetings)

A Finance Role with Variety, Responsibility and Flexibility

We are looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Finance Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team and take a lead role in managing the Town Council’s finances.

This is a varied and responsible role covering budgeting and financial forecasting, management accounts, banking and investments, VAT, payroll, procurement, financial controls, year-end accounts and the annual audit process. Working closely with the Town Clerk, you will also provide clear financial information and advice to councillors and committees.

We’re looking for someone who can combine strong financial knowledge with excellent attention to detail, work confidently and independently, and take ownership of ensuring our finances are well managed, compliant and properly controlled.

You will need an accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent, strong numerical and analytical skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Experience of local government finance would be an advantage but is not essential.
