JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Finance Manager is responsible for external reporting, investment accounting, asset/portfolio acquisitions and disposals, and business partnering for our student and multifamily portfolios.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Producing all external financial reports for property portfolios, including statutory accounts, investor, and lender reporting.
- Preparing capital and return schedules, investor capital calls, distributions, and coordinating with teams on capital needs and inter-group management.
- Managing asset/portfolio acquisitions and disposals, including liaising with external advisors, reviewing SPAs, purchase price mechanisms, and management agreements, and handling acquisition accounting.
- Leading the annual audit process, maintaining relationships with external auditors, and reviewing consolidated financial statements.
- Managing relationships with outsourced investment accounting providers and engaging with corporate administrators.
- Contributing to annual planning and budgeting, ensuring compliance with proforma models and investor requirements.
- Preparing technical and process accounting memos for new reporting standards.
- Reviewing and contributing to portfolio and facility agreements.
- Responding to ad-hoc investor and stakeholder requests.
- Partnering with operational finance for timely management accounts of operating and property entities.
- Supporting development finance for capital calls and development entity accounts.
- Assisting with tax, legal, regulatory, and compliance deadlines.
- Participating in the investment property valuation process.
- Completing various financial, accounting, and administrative reports and analyses as needed.
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate calibre or equivalent relevant experience.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Strong accounting background with experience in financial reporting and entries.
- Experience with financial accounting and property management software (Yardi experience preferred).
- Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Understanding of VAT and SPV structures.
