The Finance Manager - FP&A will be based in Basingstoke, UK and will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership and execution of key financial planning, forecasting and reporting processes across the Microbiology Division. Reporting to the Director, FP&A, this role sits within a lean, high-performing FP&A team where each Finance Manager owns a defined area of the planning and reporting cycle. This is a hands-on role requiring a technically strong finance professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver accurate, high-quality financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Own assigned FP&A processes, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Own the monthly forecasting, annual budgeting and long-range planning activities for assigned functional areas.
- Prepare and analyse monthly and quarterly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow results, providing insightful commentary on business performance, key drivers, risks and opportunities.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against Forecast, Budget, Prior Year and Strategic Plan, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning and business decision-making.
- Partner with Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations and SG&A Finance teams to ensure data integrity and accurate financial submissions.
- Coordinate the collection, validation and consolidation of financial information from multiple stakeholders across the business.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly business review materials and reporting packages for Divisional leadership.
- Perform month-end close activities, including financial analysis, reconciliations and validation of reported results.
- Support operating expenditure, headcount and manufacturing cost forecasting, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Finance and Management Reporting systems, including Hyperion and SAP, supporting finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive improvements in financial reporting, automation, data quality and process efficiency through the effective use of Excel, Power BI, SQL and other analytical tools where appropriate.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum five years' experience in FP&A, financial planning or commercial finance within a large, complex manufacturing organisation.

- Proven FP&A experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced Excel skills with proven expertise in financial modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis.
- Strong understanding of Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, with extensive forecasting and variance analysis experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and financial integrity.
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
- Experience developing financial reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Must have working experience with SAP ERP and/or SAP S/4HANA, including Financial Controlling (CO) modules, with exposure to Sales & Distribution (SD) and Materials Management (MM) modules.
- Experience working with large datasets and complex financial reporting processes.
Highly Desirable
- Experience within pharmaceutical, medical devices or life sciences organisations.
- Experience with Oracle Hyperion, Essbase and Smart View.
- Experience using SQL and/or Python for financial data analysis, automation and reporting.
- Experience working with databases and database management.Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and process optimisation.
- Self-motivated, proactive and delivery-focused with the ability to work effectively in a lean, matrix organisation.
