Job summary

UKSBS is recruiting a Finance Manager to join Corporate Finance in a hybrid role across Swindon, Stockton-on-Tees or Newport. You will report to the Head of Finance and lead the finance business partnering team, delivering planning, reporting and governance across the organisation.

You will shape financial decision-making, support transformation, and contribute to high-quality financial services while working with senior leaders and driving continuous improvements in reporting, controls and data

Qualifications

• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Significant experience in senior financial management or finance business partnering
• Experience producing reports for senior stakeholders
• Experience coordinating budgeting, forecasting and planning processes
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls and governance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and modelling skills
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders constructively
• Experience leading finance professionals

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leaders with financial insight, challenges and advice to improve decisions.
• Develop relationships with budget holders and senior stakeholders with clear analyses of performance, risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting and business planning process.
• Forecast activity with robust modelling and scenario analysis for decisions.
• Prepare accurate management information for senior leadership and Executive reporting.
• Produce timely monthly management accounts with insightful commentary.
• Operate financial controls and ensure governance standards compliance.
• Lead and develop the Corporate Finance team and manage workloads.
• Drive improvements in processes, controls and reporting, including data, automation and Oracle EPM.
• Maintain financial policies, procedures and guidance and escalate significant issues to the Head of Finance.

We are now seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial insight, planning, reporting and governance across UKSBS. You will help shape financial decision-making, support business transformation, and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services.

You will work closely with senior leaders across UKSBS, providing financial insight and constructive challenge to support strategic decision-making, service delivery and business transformation. You will lead and develop the finance business partnering team, support statutory reporting and audit activity, and contribute to the effective delivery of Audit Committee reporting and assurance. You will also foster a high-performing and collaborative culture focused on excellent financial support and insight.

You will provide operational leadership across agreed areas of Corporate Finance and deputise for the Head of Finance as required. The role will also play a key part in finance transformation, improving reporting capability, strengthening controls and supporting the effective use of data, automation and digital finance tools.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide senior leaders with financial insight, constructive challenges and advice to improve decision-making.


• Develop strong relationships with budget holders and senior stakeholders, providing clear analysis of financial performance, risks and opportunities.


• Manage and coordinate the annual budgeting and business planning process.


• Coordinate forecasting activity and deliver robust financial modelling and scenario analysis to support organisational decision-making.


• Support the preparation of accurate and insightful management information for senior leadership and Executive reporting.


• Manage the production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including financial analysis and insightful commentary.


• Manage the operation of financial controls and support compliance with relevant accounting standards, policies and governance requirements.


• Lead, develop and motivate members of the Corporate Finance team, managing performance, priorities and workload.


• Identify and deliver agreed improvements in financial processes, controls and reporting, including the effective use of data, automation and Oracle EPM.


• Coordinate the development and maintenance of financial policies, procedures and guidance, escalating significant or material issues to the Head of Finance as appropriate.


• Deputise for the Head of Finance as required.

To do this role well you will need to demonstrate the following:

• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.


• Significant experience in senior financial management, finance business partnering or comparable role.


• Experience of producing reports and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.


• Experience of managing or coordinating budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.


• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, financial control and governance principles.


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling skills.


• The ability to influence and challenge constructively at senior level.


• Experience of leading, managing and developing finance professionals.


• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.


• Experience of driving process improvement and supporting organisational change.

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• Experience within the public sector, a government-related organisation, shared services or a comparable service delivery environment.


• Experience of business partnering senior leadership teams.


• Experience of finance transformation or finance systems implementation.


• Experience of Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM or equivalent financial planning and reporting systems.
