Job Description:

The ideal candidate should have proven experience leading capital and fixed asset accounting within a local authority context. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring revenue and capital accounting entries underpinning the Statement of Accounts are produced accurately, timely, and in accordance with legislative requirements and professional standards.
• Producing the Statement of Accounts, Group Accounts, and other statutory returns.
• Providing financial advice and preparing statutory returns related to taxation and VAT.
• Supporting the development of the capital strategy as part of the medium-term financial strategy, including policy formulation.
• Producing high-level capital monitoring reports aligned with the timetable set by the Head of Strategy, Treasury, and Pensions.
• Collaborating with the Treasury & Pensions team to develop a Treasury Strategy that reflects the Council's capital spending plans and cash flow forecasts.
