An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a London-based Council as their Finance Manager for Adult Social Care. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, your role will be to oversee the finance team supporting the Adults Social Care and Public Health Directorate budgets. You will provide expertise and high-quality financial advice and reporting to senior stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making. Additionally, you will contribute to achieving the finance service’s vision and foster an innovative, high-performance, and continuous improvement culture.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Management Integration: Ensure financial management is central to service decision-making, providing management with relevant financial information to inform decisions. Collaborate effectively with senior council management, councillors, and external stakeholders.
  2. Budget Oversight: Manage the general fund and capital budgets within the directorate, promoting a high-performing and innovative culture, and leading your team to support the goals of the Business Resources Division, Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate, and the overall council’s vision.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and current practices in council financial regulations, advising directors, councillors, officers, and stakeholders accordingly.
  4. Financial Cycle Management: Oversee the financial cycle, including monthly reviews, in-year allocations, monitoring, and the preparation of financial records for year-end closing, in accordance with policies, procedures, standards, and legislative requirements.
  5. Financial Data Translation and Challenge: Translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders and challenge senior managers to ensure robust financial management across business areas.

To qualify, candidates must be CCAB qualified accountants with experience in Local Government and Adults and Social Care finance. This is a permanent role requiring two days in the office each week. The salary range is £55,399 to £82,896.
