Job description

My client is currently seeking a permanent Finance Manager for their Crediton location. The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role within manufacturing and be able to hit the ground running. This is a permanent, stable position within a growing local company.

Job Description:
  1. Provide line management and leadership of the Finance team.
  2. Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
  3. Maintain, control, and optimise the ERP system for all financial and business processes.
  4. Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  5. Prepare timely monthly management accounts for the company accountants.
  6. Review DME monthly management accounts in accordance with accounting policies.
  7. Manage company cash flow through monitoring transactions and reviewing analysis to improve cash management.
  8. Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported, including sales, purchases, payroll, and all nominal ledgers.
  9. Manage Credit Control, including customer credit checks, setting credit limits, monitoring aged debts, and collecting outstanding amounts.
  10. Oversee routine activities of the Finance team such as payroll, staff expenses, P11Ds, PAYE settlements, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  11. Maintain control accounts including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, PAYE, and VAT.
  12. Provide technical support and advice regarding VAT and PAYE to all on-site companies.
  13. Develop and improve financial systems and management information.
  14. Prepare annual statutory accounts documentation for audit purposes.
  15. Maintain internal controls across the business and foster a culture of process improvement.
  16. Assist the Head of Finance in coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  17. Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  18. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies.
  19. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  20. Assist the Head of Finance with projects such as costing, ERP system integration, and process improvements.
Person Specification:
  1. An accountant with significant experience in the full range of financial management processes.
  2. Understanding of the complexities of finance management, ideally with manufacturing sector experience.
  3. Strong IT skills, including experience with information systems management and ERP system implementation and optimisation.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical skills, and initiative.
  6. Experience managing a small team effectively.
  7. Strong organisational skills with experience meeting accounting deadlines.
