As data capabilities and advanced analytics increasingly underpin their corporate strategy, the Commercial Finance function has become a critical driver of business performance. We are seeking a technically sophisticated, commercially astute Finance Manager to lead our AI & Data Analytics financial reporting workstream. This role bridges the gap between complex big data infrastructure and executive-level corporate finance.
Position Overview
The Finance Manager – AI & Data Analytics will oversee the financial narrative for the business core commercial drivers, including high-profile loyalty programs, marketing campaigns, and major trade initiatives. You will take ownership of the data structures and insights that inform senior leadership (up to Group CFO), FP&A, and Investor Relations. Operating in a high-visibility capacity, you will transform raw data into robust, institutional-grade commercial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Reporting & Market Insight
- Standardised Reporting: Deliver period-end trading reports and take full ownership of the Sales & Marketing KPI performance packs from a financial perspective.
- Weekly Trading Pace: Prepare weekly commercial reporting packs tracking financial and non-financial KPIs across operational measures and strategic pillars such as Loyalty.
- PLC Reporting Inputs: Produce rigorous financial content, trend analysis, and commentary for Interim and Full-Year market announcements.
- Promotional Tracking: Maintain a centralized evaluation system for all centrally led promotions, key events, and major launches to provide granular insight into Like-for-Like (LFL) performance outcomes.
- Advanced Financial Modelling: Build, scale, and maintain sophisticated budget and forecasting models, partnering closely with the Commercial Finance Manager to embed dynamic assumptions.
- Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain automated Power BI dashboards to enhance visibility into commercial and operational performance metrics.
- Campaign Evaluation: Conduct objective campaign performance analysis to measure ROI, identify hidden operational risks, and isolate growth opportunities.
- Data Integrity: Implement strict quality controls to ensure the absolute accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all management information and reporting outputs.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- People Management: Line-manage, mentor, and support one Analyst, providing day-to-day strategic direction, workload prioritisation, and professional development support.
- Corporate Liaison: Act as the central point of contact for the FP&A team and the Head of Investor Relations regarding sales performance and market queries.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Build strong, collaborative working relationships with senior stakeholders, including the Head of Revenue Management, Head of Marketing ROI, FP&A Manager, and Head of BI Insights.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with demonstrated post-qualification experience within a fast-paced corporate or PLC environment.
- Advanced Technical Skills: High literacy in SQL and Power BI, alongside advanced financial modelling capabilities. Experience dealing with large, unstructured datasets is essential.
- Commercial Acumen: A proven track record of looking beyond core financial metrics to evaluate non-financial KPIs, customer behaviour, and marketing ROI.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distil complex analytical findings into clear, authoritative narratives for C-suite executives and external stakeholders.
