Finance Manager - Adult Social Care

Are you a talented, motivated, and enthusiastic accountant with experience of working in Local Government? This role will provide you with the opportunity to take responsibility for leading our Finance Management team to deliver a high quality and responsive finance business partnering service to the Adult Social Care and Public Health directorate.

About The Role
  1. Leadership and Management: You will lead by example and manage the Financial Management team within the Adult Social Care and Public Health directorate with the primary aim of delivering an outstanding finance business partnering service.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: You will demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation affecting local government finance and service delivery, including legislation affecting Adult Social Care Services.
  3. Experience: Proven experience of advising and supporting senior managers on key strategic matters relating to finance, including undertaking complex financial calculations, options appraisals, sensitivity analysis, and variance analysis.
  4. Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain and accurately present complex financial information to non-financial professionals.
  5. Performance Management: Drive continuous improvement to ensure reliable and robust financial information supports decision-making and financial reporting.
  6. Professional Development: Foster a culture of ongoing learning within the service, embracing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • CCAB qualified or relevant experience in an accounting role in local government, preferably within Adult Social Care.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate others.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience providing financial advice to secure effective delivery and value for money.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills with spreadsheets, financial systems, and analysis packages.
