Job summary

This exciting role is at the heart of Transport Scotland’s Finance and Corporate Services directorate. As a Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the Finance Business Partnering Team, supporting the wider finance function, including accounts payable, financial accounting teams, and policy and operational directorates within Transport Scotland.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) Team as a Finance Manager. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop a broad range of skills and gain valuable insight into the agency's important work.

Job description

Responsibilities

1. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of budget monitoring and reporting exercises, providing the Finance Business Partnering team and budget holders with robust information and explanations to support informed decision-making.
2. Provide financial management advice to stakeholders through financial reporting and analysis, delivering high-quality, regular financial updates to key stakeholders within and outside the finance team.
3. Lead, support, and line manage a small team to ensure delivery of team priorities, while offering support and guidance to direct reports.
4. Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders, providing advice and constructive challenge.
5. Identify potential improvements to finance and governance processes, focusing on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of financial management through core financial reporting systems.
6. Assist in the preparation and collation of the Transport Scotland Annual Report and Accounts and liaise with internal and external auditors.

Person specification

Qualifications

The successful candidate should be fully CCAB qualified with up-to-date CPD. Candidates who are part-qualified are also considered if they are actively working towards full CCAB qualification and have relevant experience.
