Job summary

Hyra requires a Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day accounting operations and develop the Finance team as the business grows. You will report to the Financial Controller, maintain ledgers, and drive system improvements to meet targets in a dynamic environment.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, ensure accurate reporting, and provide insights to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in month-end processes and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to prepare management accounts and budgets.
• Comfortable with financial controls and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day Finance Team operations to ensure smooth running.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts including P&L and balance sheet.
• Complete month-end processes, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and adjustments.
• Ensure accuracy of reporting, reconcile control accounts and post journals.
• Provide commentary on performance and support strategic decisions.
• Prepare annual budgets and re-forecasts with other department heads.
• Work with managers to ensure accurate reporting and identify cost savings.
• Train team members and support development.
• Analyze revenue streams and projects to identify margin enhancements.
• Keep up to date with financial regulations and standards.
• Support year-end audit and liaise with central credit control as needed.
• Produce monthly KPI reports and ad-hoc financial analysis.

Job description

You will report to the Financial Controller responsible for overseeing the daily accounting processes to

maintain the ledgers. The position is focused on developing the Finance team and implementing systems to meet the evolving needs of the business as it grows, ensuring key targets and management deadlines are met in a dynamic working environment

Client Details

The organisation operates in the Business Services industry in the Medway towns area.

Description

• This role will involve assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Finance Team and ensuring that the Finance Department runs smoothly.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts to include departmental profit and loss statements and balance sheet.
• Review and completion of month end processes, in line with management timetable, including monthly accruals, prepayments, depreciation and all other month end adjustments as required.
• Ensure accuracy of financial reporting with review and reconciliation of all control accounts, including actioning necessary journal entries and nominal analysis.
• Provide high level supporting commentary on the financial performance, highlighting variance to budget and forecasts and support strategic decision making.
• Preparation of annual budgets and any re-forecasting as required. This will include working alongside other department heads to gather required information.
• Work with departmental managers and Directors to ensure accuracy of reporting and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Support and provide training to members of the team to ensure they progress with their development.
• Analyse revenue streams and project works to provide financial commentary and identify opportunities for margin enhancements.
• Ensure knowledge is up to date on financial regulations and accounting standards.
• Support the year-end financial audit and the financial elements of the audit.
• Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that financial considerations are integrated into Operational strategies.
• Provide assistance, and work alongside, the central credit control department to monitor accounts and liaise with customers to ensure monies are received within agreed terms. Adhere to escalation procedures where necessary.
• Assist with monitoring of outstanding customer purchase orders, escalating where required.
• Completion of ad-hoc project work and financial analysis on performance, including production of monthly KPI report.

Profile

• Good knowledge of Excel, SAP (not essential), Microsoft packages and Outlook
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and month-end activities.
• Confidence reviewing financial data, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.
• Experience monitoring budgets and expenditure.
• CIMA, ACCA, ACA Qualified / Finalist

Job Offer

• Permanent Finance Manager position based in Medway
• Salary of £50,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience with good benefits package
• 4 Days in the office 1 day Working from home.
