Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations for a client, with hands-on control of reporting, payroll, VAT, and banking functions. The role is hybrid, Monday to Thursday, with generous pension and parking benefits.

The successful candidate will manage VAT, monthly management accounts, and client account reconciliations, while supporting budgeting and year-end processes. Experience with SRA rules is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Manager or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of VAT regulations.
• Payroll processing experience.
• Experience with Xero and Clio is desirable.
• Understanding of SRA Accounts Rules would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT returns for multiple entities.
• Produce monthly management accounts and report on financial performance.
• Reconcile client accounts and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee day-to-day bank account administration and cash flow.
• Process monthly payroll and meet payroll obligations.
• Prepare SRA reporting and liaise with external accountants/auditors.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and efficiency.

Finance Manager

About the Role

I am seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a client's business. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities across financial reporting, compliance, payroll, and banking functions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial processes while supporting the wider business with timely financial information and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT returns for both regulated and non-regulated business entities.
• Produce monthly management accounts, including analysis and reporting of financial performance.
• Manage and reconcile client accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the day-to-day operation and administration of company bank accounts.
• Maintain accurate office accounts and monitor business expenditure.
• Process monthly payroll and ensure all payroll obligations are met accurately and on time.
• Prepare and complete SRA reporting requirements and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Manage financial records and reporting using Xero and Clio systems.
• Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and operational efficiencies.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience managing client account reconciliations within a professional services environment.
• Understanding of SRA Accounts Rules and reporting requirements would be highly advantageous.
• Experience processing payroll and managing month-end procedures.
• Proficient in Xero accounting software.
• Experience using Clio practice management software is desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to manage priorities effectively and work independently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified, part-qualified, or fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
• Relevant finance and accounting experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
