Job summary

Investigo is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to own the finance function within a growing organisation in the Northampton area. Supported by a small transactional team, the role covers cashflow management, statutory compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end processes.

The ideal candidate will operate across transactional and strategic finance activities, ensuring accurate records, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial commentary for business decisions.

Qualifications

• Qualified by experience with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience managing month-end and financial reporting processes.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day finance function with a small team.
• Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts to support working capital management.
• Oversee supplier payments and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
• Prepare payroll information and liaise with external providers.
• Prepare and reconcile indirect tax returns.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate items.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting and regulatory obligations.
• Lead monthly management accounts with commentary on variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting across the business.
• Deliver regular financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Assist with year-end processes and external audit requirements.
• Produce ad hoc financial analysis as required.

Supported by a small transactional team, this broad role will cover all aspects of financial operations, including cashflow management, statutory compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end processes.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating across both transactional and strategic finance activities, ensuring financial records are accurate, compliant, and up to date while providing meaningful insight to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day finance function, supported by a small finance team.
• Maintain and develop rolling cashflow forecasts to support effective working capital management.
• Oversee supplier payment processes and ensure timely settlement of financial obligations.
• Prepare payroll information and liaise with external providers where required.
• Prepare and reconcile indirect tax returns, ensuring accurate treatment of transactions.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial reporting and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, providing commentary on performance and key variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting activities across the business.
• Deliver regular financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Assist with year-end processes, including statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
• Produce ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Requirements

• Qualified by experience or similar with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience managing month-end and financial reporting processes.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
• Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across the business.
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience of ERP or integrated finance systems would be advantageous.
