Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or qualified by relevant experience, ideally with a background in housing associations. This role focusses on ensuring the financial stability and compliance of our housing services, ultimately providing the best value to residents. If you are a qualified accountant (or qualified by experience) with relevant housing sector knowledge, this would be a great asset to this position. You will be preparing and managing monthly financial reports for the Housing Division, assisting with the preparation of forecasts, budgets and the statutory accounts.
In this role you will take responsibility for preparing, developing and managing all aspects of rent and service charges, ensuring adherence to industry standards. Providing transparency and accuracy around charges. Alongside this, you will generate annual rent and service charge estimates within required timescales, reconcile service charge data and manage sinking/reserve funds. Additionally, this role will require you to ensure accurate allocation of rental income and reconciliation of key control accounts, maintain awareness of relevant legislation and advise on new developments, develop and lead the rent review process and respond to resident enquiries. Staying focused on value for money, you will help assess the financial viability of partners and provide appropriate methodology and accurate calculations to support Housing Benefit charges. Your external stakeholders will be with local authorities, and you will also assist with evaluating new business cases, including stress testing. With the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of finance and operational policies that reflect organisational values and comply with legal and statutory requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
As a qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or qualified by relevant experience, ideally with experience of charity accounting, you will bring proven experience in the housing sector, experience of housing software systems, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as demonstrating that you are an excellent communicator with proven skills in IT proficiency, including Google, Excel, and Microsoft Office, and have a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
