Job summary

Wade MacDonald are recruiting a Finance Manager to join a growing FMCG organisation based in Newbury. This is a broad, hands-on position responsible for day-to-day finance, management reporting and developing a small team, working closely with the Finance Director to influence decision-making across the organisation.

The role involves month-end, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management and enhancing reporting controls, with SCC-experienced tools such as Sage and Power BI in an SME setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified or strong part-qualified accountant with substantial management accounting and financial control experience.
• Experience in SME environment and working with non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong Excel and analytical capabilities; practical, hands-on approach.
• Experience with FMCG, Sage and Power BI advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end activities and produce timely management information.
• Prepare reporting for senior stakeholders with commentary on performance and variances.

Finance Manager

Newbury | £40,000 – £55,000 | Permanent | Office-based with some home working

Wade MacDonald are recruiting a Finance Manager to join a growing FMCG organisation based in Newbury. This is a broad, hands-on position offering responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, management reporting and the development of a small team. Working closely with the Finance Director, you will have the opportunity to influence how finance supports decision-making across the organisation.

About the Job

As Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the monthly finance cycle while providing the Finance Director and wider organisation with accurate and useful financial information. Alongside maintaining strong financial controls, you will manage other members of the finance team and help develop more efficient reporting and processes.

Duties will include:

• Managing month-end activities and producing accurate monthly management information.
• Preparing reporting for senior stakeholders, supported by clear commentary on performance and key variances.
• Coordinating budgeting and forecasting and working with budget holders to improve financial planning.
• Managing cash flow forecasting and monitoring working capital requirements.
• Maintaining balance sheet integrity through effective reconciliations, controls and review processes.
• Coordinating year-end activity and supporting external accountants with the information they require.
• Overseeing payroll, banking and payment processes.
• Improving the quality and accessibility of financial reporting through Sage, Power BI and other finance tools.
• Supporting commercial analysis across areas such as profitability, stock and wider business projects.
• Managing and developing two finance team members, providing guidance, review and support.
• Reviewing existing finance processes and introducing practical improvements to strengthen efficiency and control.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be a qualified or strong part-qualified accountant with substantial management accounting and financial control experience. Comfortable working in an SME environment, you will combine strong Excel and analytical capabilities with a practical, hands-on approach. You will be confident communicating with non-finance stakeholders and supporting a small team. FMCG, Sage and Power BI experience would be advantageous.

What You Will Receive in Return

You will receive a salary of £40,000 – £55,000 and the opportunity to take on a highly visible Finance Manager position within a growing organisation. The role provides close exposure to the Finance Director, responsibility for developing a small team and plenty of scope to improve reporting, controls and processes.

The position is based in Newbury and is predominantly office-based, with some home working available.
