Job summary

Forge Talent are partnering with a well-established retail business based in Manchester city centre seeking a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This hands-on role focuses on management reporting, financial control and stock accounting.

You'll report to the Finance Director, produce monthly management accounts, manage stock reconciliations and work with operational teams to drive profitability in a stock-intensive environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong management accounting experience.
• Stock-intensive environment experience preferred (retail/FMCG/wholesale).
• Ability to handle large data volumes and understand stock impact on P&L and balance sheet.

Forge Talent are partinering with a well-established and growing retail business, based in Manchester city centre.

Due to continued growth, they’re looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on management reporting, financial control and, importantly, stock and inventory accounting.

The Role

Reporting directly into the Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in the production of accurate monthly management accounts while working closely with the wider finance and operational teams.

A major part of the role will involve stock accounting and reconciliation, so previous experience working within a stock-led environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting analysis
• Balance sheet reconciliations and financial control
• Detailed stock and inventory accounting
• Stock reconciliations, movements and valuation
• Investigating stock variances and identifying discrepancies
• Supporting month-end and year-end processes
• Analysis of margins, revenue and costs
• Producing regular management information and reporting
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Working closely with operational teams to improve financial performance
• Assisting with audit and statutory reporting requirements
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and financial controls

About You

We’re looking for a qualified accountant with strong management accounting experience and, ideally, a background within retail, FMCG, wholesale or another stock-intensive environment.

You’ll need to be comfortable working with large volumes of data and have a strong understanding of how stock impacts the P&L and balance sheet.
