Job purpose:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day book keeping and financial operations of The AVOCADO Foundation. This role involves overseeing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring that the organisation's financial systems are compliant and efficient. The Finance Manager will also manage budget tracking, reporting, and analysis, ideally using Sage accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
Process all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and payroll, ensuring accurate record-keeping. Maintain up-to-date financial records and produce regular financial reports, including cash flow statements, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and provide monthly budget monitoring reports to ensure that financial resources are being used efficiently. Work closely with department heads to track spending and adjust forecasts as necessary.
Payroll and Sage Accounting System Management:
Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments to staff, using Sage accounting software.
Book keeping, Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process invoices, payments, and receipts. Ensure timely payments to suppliers and manage incoming funds from grants, donations, and other income streams.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations (e.g., PAYE, NI) and process VAT returns where applicable.
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow Management:
Conduct regular bank reconciliations and ensure the organisation’s cash flow is managed efficiently, with sufficient funds available for both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects.
Support to Senior Management:
Provide regular financial updates to the CEO, senior management and trustees, including variance analysis, and advise on financial strategies that will support organisational sustainability.
Working Conditions
This is a hybrid role with flexible hours. Regular attendance at meetings is expected. Evening or weekend work may be required in order to meet deadlines.
