Job summary

Are you an experienced Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Financial Controller or Senior Management Accountant looking for a broad, hands on finance role within an established SME?

We are recruiting a Finance Manager for a growing business based in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys combining team management, management accounting and financial control with the day to day running of a finance function.

You will manage a small finance team and take responsibility for core finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end, stock, VAT, bank reconciliations and financial controls. The business is also going through a period of systems and process development, so there will be plenty of opportunity to improve how the finance function operates.

The role will include:

• Managing and developing a small finance team
• Overseeing accounts payable, purchase ledger, accounts receivable and sales ledger
• Supporting the month end close and management accounting process
• Balance sheet, bank and cash book reconciliations
• Month end stock accounting and reconciliation
• VAT and wider tax compliance
• Improving financial controls, processes and reporting
• Supporting finance systems and process improvements
• Working with Excel and ERP systems to improve financial information
• Remaining hands on with transactional finance where required

About you:

You may currently be working as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Management Accountant, Senior Management Accountant, Company Accountant or Accounting Manager.

You will ideally be CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, part qualified or a finalist, although relevant experience and technical ability are equally important.

Experience within manufacturing, distribution, stock, product based businesses or an SME environment would be particularly useful. You should have strong Excel skills, alongside experience working with ERP systems, finance systems or accounting software. Previous involvement in systems implementations, upgrades or process improvement would also be advantageous.

Most importantly, you will be comfortable in a genuinely hands on role. You will have responsibility for managing the team and overseeing the finance function, while still being willing to get involved in reconciliations, ledgers and transactional accounting when required.

The position is fully office based in Leicester and offers a salary of £45,000 to £60,000, depending on experience and qualification.
