Job summary

Michael Page are recruiting a Finance Manager for a Kingston upon Thames firm. You will oversee daily financial operations, management reporting and financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance, working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership to drive performance.

The successful candidate will have AAT qualification, strong management accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and experience supervising finance staff, ideally within professional services or a law firm.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification as a minimum with strong management accounting experience.
• ACCA, CIMA or ACA part-qualified or fully qualified.
• Experience supporting or supervising finance staff.
• Experience using legal accounting systems.
• Experience improving financial controls, processes or reporting.
• Exposure to business growth, change or finance transformation projects.
• Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly financial reporting, including KPI, profitability and performance analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
• Produce financial insights, trend analysis and reporting to support management and partner decision-making.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash management and credit control.
• Monitor cashflow, debtor balances, lock-up and working capital performance.
• Lead month-end and year-end reporting processes and meet key deadlines.
• Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, Solicitors Accounts Rules and internal policies.
• Support external audits, regulatory reviews and wider finance compliance requirements.
• Supervise and support the finance team and manage workloads.
• Produce advanced Excel reporting and identify opportunities to improve systems and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance Director and wider business on strategic projects and cost-saving initiatives.

As a Finance Manager within a well-established firm based in Kingston upon thames, you will oversee daily financial operations, management reporting and financial controls, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance. Working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership, you will play a key role in driving financial performance, improving processes and supporting the firm's continued growth.

Description

• Manage monthly financial reporting, including KPI, profitability and performance analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
• Produce financial insights, trend analysis and reporting to support management and partner decision-making.
• Oversee key operational finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash management and credit control.
• Monitor cashflow, debtor balances, lock-up and working capital performance.
• Lead and support month-end and year-end reporting processes, ensuring key deadlines are met.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

• AAT qualified as a minimum, with strong management accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis and query-based reporting.
• Experience supporting or supervising finance staff.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• ACCA, CIMA or ACA part-qualified or fully qualified.
• Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience using legal accounting systems.
• Experience improving financial controls, processes or reporting.
• Exposure to business growth, change or finance transformation projects.

Job Offer

• Competitive salary ranging from £45,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience.
