Job summary

Reed is seeking a Temporary Finance Manager in the United Kingdom to lead core finance processes and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations. The role is hands‑on, requiring ownership of payroll, VAT, and ledger management while maintaining compliance with financial regulations.

The candidate will handle end-to-end payroll, VAT/PAYE administration, and production of accounts up to Trial Balance, supporting ad hoc tasks as needed in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll handling (weekly and monthly).
• VAT, PAYE and pension administration experience.
• Ledger reconciliation and reporting to Trial Balance.
• Ability to produce financial data up to Trial Balance.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Managing PAYE and pension contributions.
• Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll for about 50 weekly payroll employees and 10–12 monthly/weekly payroll staff.
• Maintaining and reconciling Sales and Purchase Ledgers.
• Producing accounts up to Trial Balance.
• Supporting general finance operations and regulatory compliance.
• Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks as required.

Rate: £20 per hour

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Finance Manager . This is a hands‑on role requiring a strong all‑round finance professional who can take ownership of core finance processes and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing and submitting VAT Returns
• Managing PAYE and pension contributions
• Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll, including:
  
  • Approximately 50 weekly payroll employees
  • 10-12 monthly/weekly payroll staff
• Maintaining and reconciling both Sales and Purchase Ledgers
• Producing accounts up to Trial Balance
• Supporting general finance operations and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
• Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks as required

Requirements

To be considered, candidates must be able to confidently and competently handle:

• End-to‑end payroll processes (weekly and monthly)
• VAT, PAYE and pension administration
• Ledger management and reconciliations
• Preparation of financial data up to Trial Balance

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or Senior Finance role
• Strong working knowledge of UK finance regulations (VAT, PAYE, pensions)
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
