Job summary

Hanson Wade Conferences Limited is seeking a seasoned Finance Leader to oversee a small finance team and manage end-to-end financial reporting for the group. You will own the month-end close, ensure balance sheet integrity, and drive process improvements across accounting, tax, and treasury.

The role requires ACA/ACCA qualification, multi-entity experience, and strong NetSuite and Excel skills. You will interact with auditors and PE investors, delivering accurate management and board reporting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small Finance team while remaining hands-on with key finance processes.
• Own financial management and reporting for Hanson Wade Conferences Limited.
• Prepare monthly accounts and monthly Group consolidated accounts.
• Own the month-end close process and ensure close by WD6.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity and complete reconciliations.
• Review and post journals; maintain fixed asset registers and intercompany accounting.
• Prepare and review indirect tax returns for UK and Europe.
• Oversee treasury controls, bank accounts, and payment controls.
• Manage end-to-end sales invoicing; prepare weekly cash flows and covenant workings.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity and working capital; oversee receivables/payables.
• Liaise with auditors and tax advisors; oversee year-end reporting and external audit.
• Lead process improvement, automation and NetSuite governance.

Job description

• Lead and develop a small Finance team while remaining hands-on with key finance processes
• Own financial management and reporting for Hanson Wade Conferences Limited
• Prepare monthly accounts and monthly Group consolidated accounts
• Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast
• Prepare management reporting packs, Board reporting, and private equity investor reporting
• Maintain finance processes, controls, systems, and audit readiness
• Own the month-end close process and ensure close by WD6
• Ensure balance sheet integrity and complete reconciliations
• Review and post journals
• Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition under Group accounting policies
• Investigate accounting queries and resolve technical accounting issues
• Prepare and review indirect tax returns across the UK and Europe
• Oversee treasury controls, bank accounts, user access, payment controls, and company credit cards
• Manage end-to-end sales invoicing
• Prepare weekly cash flows and covenant workings
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
• Oversee accounts receivable and payable processes
• Conduct performance reviews and coaching for team members
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
• Own year-end statutory reporting, external audit, tax adviser oversight, and filing deadlines
• Lead Finance Department process improvement, automation, and workflow initiatives
• Own the NetSuite platform, including administration, access management, process design, controls, reporting, training, and enhancements

Requirements

• Big 4 Qualified ACA or ACCA
• Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in industry
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with NetSuite is essential
• Experience owning and delivering a month-end close process within a multi-entity environment
• Previous experience managing or mentoring finance professionals
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Experience operating within a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Previous exposure to private equity-backed businesses is desirable
