Finance Manager - Near Exeter - Circa £45,000

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by a long-standing, family-owned manufacturing business to recruit their new Finance Manager. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a stable organisation of around 35 employees, operating across several successful enterprises and now entering an exciting phase of structural change and future growth.

This is a full-time,on-siteposition based near Exeter, working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team. You’ll be supported by a motivated Finance Apprentice, with a longer-term plan to further expand the finance function as the business continues to evolve.

This is a broad and hands‑on role where the successful candidate will take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations while also contributing to ongoing improvements and upcoming structural projects.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Production of accurate monthly management accounts with meaningful commentary
  • Preparation of statutory information and HMRC submissions (including VAT)
  • Ownership of the general ledger and ensuring accuracy across multiple business entities
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow monitoring
  • Overseeing supplier payments and monitoring aged debt
  • Development of KPIs and financial reporting packs for management
  • Supporting and mentoring the Finance Apprentice
  • Contributing to planned structural and operational changes within the organisation
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and controls
