Job summary

2fawcett in Derby is seeking a Finance Manager to lead day-to-day finance operations in a busy construction-focused business. The role requires an experienced finance professional who can manage ledgers, CIS payments, and ensure HMRC compliance.

This permanent, full-time, office-based position offers a competitive salary up to £45,000, 29 days holiday including bank holidays, a 5% pension, medical scheme and life assurance, with working hours 8:30am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Experience as accounts manager or senior finance role.
• Experience leading a finance team.
• Construction industry experience (highly desirable).
• Strong CIS and HMRC compliance knowledge.
• Excellent organisation and time management.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase and sales ledger functions.
• Oversee subcontractor payments and CIS compliance.
• Complete bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT and CIS returns.
• Ensure HMRC and construction regulations compliance.
• Support cash flow forecasting and management accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Train and mentor finance staff.
• Provide broader support to the finance team and ad hoc finance tasks.

Finance Manager

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a well‑established business based in Derby. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional with strong construction industry knowledge who will support the day‑to‑day management of the finance function, and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase and sales ledger functions
• Managing subcontractor payments and verifying CIS compliance
• Complete bank reconciliations
• Prepare and submit VAT returns & CIS returns
• Ensure compliance with HMRC and construction industry regulations
• Support with cashflow forecasting and management accounts
• Support month‑end and year‑end accounting processes
• Training and mentoring finance staff
• Provide wider support to the finance team and contribute to ad hoc finance tasks as required

Requirements

• Experience working as an accounts manager or in a similar senior finance role
• Previous experience managing a finance team
• Previous experience working within the construction industry (highly desirable)
• Strong working knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) processes and HMRC compliance
• Good Excel skills
• A hardworking individual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
