Butler Rose is recruiting a Finance Manager in Exeter to support robust financial management across multiple entities. You will work closely with senior leadership on financial reporting, planning, and process improvement, with a hands-on approach to month-end and year-end activities.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.

Job description

Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Finance Manager for a fantastic organisation in Exeter, with a diverse portfolio of business interests. This is a newly formed role due to business growth.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring robust financial management across a range of entities. This is a varied and hands‑on position offering exposure to financial reporting, planning, compliance, cash management and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and insightful management accounts and financial reports.
• Lead month-end and year-end accounting activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
• Maintain strong financial controls and oversee day‑to‑day finance operations.
• Coordinate audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Monitor compliance with tax and regulatory obligations.
• Partner with stakeholders across multiple business areas to provide financial guidance and support decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge and a proactive approach to problem solving. This role would suit a practice leaver, or someone already working in industry looking for a new challenge.

You should also be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in financial reporting and management accounting.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills.
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to build effective working relationships.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
