The role of Assets and Inventory Finance Manager encompasses three main areas: On and Off system Inventory and Asset Management.
• On-system inventory requires ongoing maintenance to ensure accuracy. This includes checking total stock holdings, classifications (RMC/CS), and up-to-date values.
• Off-system inventory and GFE management, which constitutes the majority of the work. At month-end, GFE postings must be verified for accuracy, ensuring correct NSNs are included or excluded. The role also involves maintaining the accuracy of GFE postings through quarterly verification exercises with the Supply Chain Team. Additionally, the role manages budgets and financial postings for Inventory, including PCR Bids, forecasts, and month-end TM1 postings.
• Asset management involves maintaining the accuracy of the Non-Current Asset Register and advising on proper asset management.
Core Day-to-Day Duties:
• Inventory analysis
• Handling business cases, primarily disposals
• Delivering in-year budgets and forecasts, coordinating monthly submissions and management information in line with departmental timetables, for review by senior management. This includes collaboration with Project/Delivery Teams and providing financial data to Project Managers and Team Leaders.
• Supporting long-term financial planning submissions (up to 10 years ahead) within the Client's Annual Budgeting Cycle (ABC), considering assumptions, risks, and options.
• Ensuring robust accounts management, including General Ledger, Project Accounts, Asset and Inventory Accounting, in accordance with Client policies and audit requirements.
• Undertaking financial accounting returns and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including financial statement reviews and audit preparations.
• Producing and scrutinizing Business Cases, including Value for Money assessments and affordability analysis, with financial approval within delegated authority.
Skills required include:
• Strong analytical skills to resolve issues related to transactions from the past.
• Ability to understand and communicate the rules and principles of Client Inventory to colleagues unfamiliar with the area.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with key stakeholders like Supply Chain, Inventory, and BAU Finance Managers.
• Awareness that Chartered Accountant designation is not required for this role.
• Expertise in inventory and asset finance.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with the Client GFE Processes, either as a former employee or through contracted work.
