Job summary

Sharp Consultancy is seeking a Finance Manager to lead a diverse finance function within a well-established manufacturing business. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensure accurate reporting, and drive commercial insight across the organisation.

You will manage a small team, build relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or finalist near qualification.
• Experience in Finance Manager or Financial Controller roles.
• Strong in financial reporting and team leadership.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual management accounts with accurate reporting.
• Own month-end and year-end processes including journals and reconciliations.
• Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
• Produce meaningful reports and analyses for performance monitoring.
• Deliver variance analysis and identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
• Maintain robust financial controls and policy adherence.
• Collaborate with operations and senior management for financial guidance.
• Support statutory reporting and external audits.
• Review finance processes to improve efficiency and reporting.
• Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and business initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and ambitious manufacturing business as a Finance Manager, taking responsibility for a diverse finance function while contributing to the ongoing development and success of the organisation.

Reporting into the Finance Director, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the finance department, ensuring the provision of accurate financial information, strong financial governance, and valuable commercial insight. You will lead and support a small finance team, whilst building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the wider business to help drive performance and informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the production of monthly and annual management accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting across the business
• Taking ownership of month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Coordinating budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities to support strategic and operational objectives
• Producing meaningful financial reports and analysis to assist business performance monitoring and decision-making
• Delivering detailed variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to enhance business performance
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
• Maintaining and strengthening financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness
• Working closely with operational leaders and senior management to provide financial guidance, support, and constructive challenge
• Supporting stock management, manufacturing cost analysis, and margin reporting to improve profitability and efficiency
• Assisting with statutory reporting requirements and coordinating external audit processes and professional advisor relationships
• Reviewing and enhancing finance processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capability
• Contributing to key business initiatives, projects, and ad hoc financial analysis as required

The successful candidate will ideally be ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, although strong finalists nearing qualification will also be considered. You will also have ideally had previous experience within a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant, or similar role, with a proven track record of managing core finance activities, financial reporting, and team leadership.
