Job summary

Alexander Daniels Finance is seeking a Finance Manager in Birmingham to own the finance and client accounting function for a busy residential property's portfolio. You will lead client money activity, reconciliations, VAT, payments, and robust financial controls while partnering with landlords and tenants.

You'll oversee end-to-end accounting processes, produce forecasts and reports, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment. This hands-on role offers autonomy and ownership.

Qualifications

• Experience managing client money accounts and ledgers.
• Proven ability to produce financial reports and forecasts.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, reconciliations and credit control.
• Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
• High accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage client and business accounting processes end-to-end.
• Maintain accurate tenant and landlord ledgers.
• Allocate rent payments and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile rents, fees and property-related expenditure.
• Prepare landlord payments, tenant refunds and contractor payments.
• Run client payment cycles and maintain audit trails.
• Respond to finance queries from landlords, tenants and suppliers.
• Produce financial forecasts, management reports and performance insights.
• Monitor financial performance and report to senior management.
• Complete VAT returns and ensure compliance with client money regulations.
• Conduct daily credit control and reduce arrears.
• Produce arrears reports and manage collection activity.
• Process contractor, supplier, insurance and utility invoices.
• Ensure accurate coding and timely settlement of liabilities.
• Support the wider property management team with financial queries.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.

You’ll be the go-to financial lead for the business, overseeing all client money activity, reporting, reconciliations, VAT, payment runs, arrears management and financial controls across a busy residential property portfolio. The Role

What You’ll Bring

• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT and credit control
• Experience managing client money accounts and ledgers
• Confident producing financial reports and forecasts
• Excellent Excel and financial systems skills
• High accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with confidence dealing with landlords and tenants
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
• Experience in property management, knowledge of client accounting software, or AAT/ACCA/CIMA qualifications. (Desirable)
