Job summary

Thales Group, Crawley, seeks a Finance Director to lead UK Financial Control, Accounting & Planning. You will report to the UK CFO, govern statutory reporting, accounting policy, tax and treasury, guiding a small specialist team and coordinating with external auditors.

The role centers on technical accounting, audit leadership, and governance in a regulated tech environment. Hybrid work (3 days on site) with a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Extensive experience in financial control, statutory reporting and corporate accounting
• Deep understanding of IFRS and UK reporting requirements
• Significant experience leading external and statutory audits
• Strong knowledge of financial governance, risk management and internal controls
• Experience at Finance Director, Controller or Head of Financial Reporting level

Responsibilities

• Lead UK reporting, accounting and financial control activities
• Ensure accurate, timely and compliant statutory and Group reporting
• Provide expert advice on complex accounting and financial governance matters including IFRS
• Oversee UK tax, treasury and financial shared services activities
• Lead relationships with external auditors, advisers, actuaries and banking partners
• Drive annual audits and statutory accounts production
• Support budget, forecast and multi-year planning at UK level
• Provide financial insight to support strategic decision-making
• Lead finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop and coach a high-performing team of specialists
