Finance Director (Public Sector)

VANRATH is pleased to be exclusively recruiting for an Interim Finance Director for a leading NI public sector organisation. The successful candidate will join the Senior Leadership team to direct and manage all financial matters within the organisation. The role is an ongoing contract with a minimum duration of 6 months.

As Finance Director, you will lead and motivate staff to achieve high performance levels, collaborate with senior staff and stakeholders, and provide advice and support to the Chief Executive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver a balanced annual budget.
• Provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing a Financial Strategy to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
• Lead the strategic and operational development of the Finance function, including policies and procedures.
• Provide strategic leadership for financial planning, budget management, governance checks, and assurances to the Chief Executive, Chair, and Board.
• Develop and implement sound financial accounting systems and processes.
• Develop and implement robust management accounting systems within the organisation.

The Ideal Person:

• Extensive experience at the executive level, with a proven track record of leading or shaping teams through growth, restructuring, or turnaround phases.
• Professional qualification with a relevant accountancy body.
• Experience in delivering strategic business plans on time, enhancing corporate functions, and managing, recruiting, and motivating diverse teams.
