Job summary

Broster Buchanan is recruiting a Finance Director for a privately owned retail technology business backed by private equity. Reporting to the CEO, the FD will oversee accounting, tax, MIS and governance, including GDPR, and will work closely with sales, product development and marketing.

The role is site-based with some flexibility. Candidates should be qualified accountants capable of leading a small finance team, budgeting and forecasting, cash management and tax planning in a growing business.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountants with professional designation (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash management
• Experience with tax planning, R&D credits and GDPR/compliance

Job description

My client is a privately owned business which has taken on private equity investment and is poised for a period of growth which should culminate in a significant future event.

The business operates in the retail technology sector and has a varied client base ranging from blue chips to SME's whilst simultaneously working in conjunction with a range of partners who are also at the cutting edge in their respective fields.

The incumbent is moving to a Board advisory role which has led to the requirement for the recruitment of a Finance Director. The intention is that the individual recruited would achieve equity participation prior to any future significant event.

Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Director will sit on the senior management team and carry responsibility for all aspects of accounting, tax, MIS and corporate governance including GDPR whilst playing a key role in the commercial aspects of the business. This will require working closely with other functions including sales, product development and marketing.

Being a key person in the senior team will require the successful candidate to be wholly site based, although there is some flexibility around start and finish times.

At a detailed level the role will include

• Budgeting and forecasting
• Cash management
• All taxation related issues including R&D credits
• Systems development and associated future upgrades
• Providing decision making support to key functional areas
• Management of a small finance team
• Liaison with key professional advisers

Potential candidates should be qualified accountants and could be seeking their first Finance Director/’number one’ role or be bringing more experience to the table. Most importantly the person will have a high degree of energy/enthusiasm and will gel with existing senior management.

Experience in retail, SaaS or perhaps corporate finance would be a positive, but cultural and personal fit will be the overriding factor in determining the recruit.

Salary will be in the £75,000 to £85,000 pa range plus family health cover and 4x DIS , 3% matched pension and 24 days holidays plus stats.
