Finance Director | Fast Growth Services Business | London

We're delighted to partner with a Founder-led services business that has doubled in size over the last two years and is now generating c.£25m in annual revenue. Backed by a strong senior leadership team with a track record of successful acquisitions, the business is now laying the groundwork for the next phase of growth — targeting £50m turnover in the next 24–36 months.

This is a company with deep operational complexity: multiple revenue streams, a mobile workforce, and variable-cost contracts across hundreds of client sites. Despite this, the culture remains values-led and people-first, with strong ESG credentials and a commitment to doing business the right way.

The business are looking at continued growth with regional expansion, professionalisation of processes and controls which will be followed by an exit in the next 2-3 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the financial strategy, controls and day-to-day operations across a business with high client turnover, low margin sensitivity, and multiple site-level P&Ls
  • Lead on the development of FP&A capabilities to improve forecasting accuracy across complex and variable cash flow environments
  • Build scalable finance infrastructure — systems, processes, controls — fit for a £50m+ organisation
  • Partner with commercial and operational leaders to ensure contract profitability, margin protection and financial rigour across all departments
  • Take on full ownership of payroll (circa 1000 staff) within the first 12 months, supported by systems and technology
  • Support upcoming M&A activity and preparation of board documentation
  • Play a key role in exit preparation and external engagement
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a Finance Manager, supporting them in the day-to-day operations of the department

About you

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong experience within high-growth, service-based businesses — ideally with mobile or remote workforces and variable billing cycles
  • Proven track record in financial leadership within fast-scaling businesses (e.g. £15m–£50m+)
  • Advanced forecasting, financial modelling and scenario planning skills
  • Experienced in building or upgrading financial infrastructure, including systems and controls
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and experience business partnering with non-finance teams
  • Comfortable taking ownership of a complex payroll operation
  • Prior involvement in M&A or exit preparation (desirable but not essential)
  • Values-led leadership style with the communication skills to operate credibly at Board level

Location: London (hybrid 3-4 days in office per week)
