Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
• Proven experience in senior finance roles (Finance Director/Head of Finance).
• Manufacturing experience, ideally in food/FMCG or production-led settings.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a successful and growing manufacturing business in Somerset with the recruitment of a Finance Director.

This is a key appointment within the organisation, reporting directly to the Managing Director. We are seeking an experienced finance leader who can provide both strategic direction and hands-on financial leadership, helping to drive profitability, support growth plans and enhance operational performance.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to the Managing Director, providing commercial insight, strategic challenge and financial expertise across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
• Provide financial leadership and commercial insight to support decision-making across the organisation.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities, ensuring clear visibility of business performance.
• Deliver high-quality management information and reporting to support operational and strategic objectives.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Support investment decisions through financial analysis, modelling and commercial evaluation.
• Work closely with operational teams to improve profitability, efficiencies and business performance.
• Ensure robust financial controls, compliance and governance are maintained across the business.
• Manage key relationships with banking partners, auditors and external advisers.
• Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.

About You

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Proven experience as a Finance Director, Head of Finance, or senior Financial Controller operating at leadership level.
• Strong manufacturing experience, ideally gained within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production-led environment.
• Demonstrable experience partnering with senior leadership teams and influencing strategic business decisions.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insight.
• Excellent budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and cash flow management skills.
• Experience managing working capital, treasury activities, and banking relationships.
• Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic leadership and operational delivery.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships across operational, commercial, and finance functions.
